Eleven Months

As I'm writing this post Presley is actually 11.5 months but I figure that's close enough.

Presley has made quite a bit of progress lately. It seems like since we started all of her early intervention services two months ago she's been working on trying to get back into a sitting position from laying down. Both the physical therapist and the early intervention specialist gave us exercises to do with her to help teach her this skill but she was really taking her time with it, and honestly I was getting a little discouraged. Finally she did it!! First I saw her do it just once then she did it again a few days later and on April 22 she very slowly started to crawl! For a few weeks she was very cautious and she was still most efficient at army crawling, but now she crawls everywhere and as soon as she really got the hang of crawling she also got the hang of getting in and out of sitting. Two milestones at once! I'm so excited to see progress and so grateful she's doing so well. I still get daily emails from the yahoo infantile spasms group and I read so many stories of kids who are very delayed, just learning to sit on their own at 2 or 3 years old, need feeding tubes, etc. Reading it terrifies me that Presley might still go down that road but more so it just makes me realize my daughter is a miracle! She has beaten so many odds and while we still have a long road ahead and I'll probably always be a neurotic worried mom when it comes to her I can't be anything but THRILLED right now!
What Presley is doing now:
crawling
getting in and out of sitting
starting to eat more solids/finger foods (still struggle with this)
pulls herself to a stand (we just had to lower her crib)
starting to reach for me to pick her up
responds to NO (when crawling to Ely's bed for 100th time)
showing stranger anxiety (this shows some cognitive development)
will take steps if we're holding her hands
cruising (just a tiny bit)
smiles all the time!

Can you tell I'm a proud mommy right now? =)

Can't believe she's already almost a year old. Let the first birthday planning begin!

  1. Yeah for Presley! She looks amazing! When we saw you guys at the pool, if I didn't know about what has been happening, I wouldn't have thought there was anything wrong with her. She looked and acted like a happy little baby, anxious to get out of her mommy's lap so she could crawl around on her own :)! You are doing such an amazing job with her, I'm sure that plays a huge role in her development thus far. We can't wait to help you celebrate the big 1 with her! Pretty soon she will be running after Peyton, Evan and Kadin wanting to join in the fun!
