Belated 14 month post

Presley turned 14 months on August 1 so I thought I'd do a little update on some of the new things she's been doing lately.

Presley still seems to be be making the biggest strides in the gross motor department and in the past week has started standing on her own! Her physical therapist said she was ready to do this a while ago but she was still being cautious and as soon as she got her confidence she would be fine. It seems Presley has found her confidence because she seems to be standing more and more every day now as she gets more comfortable we're watching to see if she might try to take a step one of these days. She's still cruising and crawling everywhere and she's quite the climber too, Peyton and I call her a little mountain goat. =)

The fine motor area is another area she's been excelling at. At her one year evaluation I had requested an occupational therapy evaluation since I was concerned about her self feeding skills and some other fine motor skills. Her results were just below average which I was really happy about. Sometimes when kids are not far enough behind you don't qualify for services but we were able to get approval for an hour a week of occupational therapy so I'm excited about that and hoping she'll be able to catch up more quickly since she wasn't as far behind as some of the other areas. She has gotten much better about self feeding so we're pretty well done with the baby food since she's able to feed herself now. In the last few weeks she has also started to isolate one finger allowing her to point at things and to push buttons on toys without banging her entire hand on the button to do so. She's also starting clapping recently.

Communication still concerns me but we are seeing some progress which is the important thing. She says  mama, dada, baba, mom, ball and this weekend I heard her say nana. Even though she doesn't have a whole lot of new words or sounds she is babbling so much more these days so I'm always happy to hear her "talking". She is also shaking her head yes and no, she isn't associating it with yes and no but she will copy you and it's super cute.
